Art Live 2010: Group exhibition September 2 in NYC

Jiradej and Pornpilai Meemalai (Jiandyin) are in this group exhibition. I love these artists; the perfect balance of yin and yang in their work. Until October they're at the ISCP.

Inception: An Amazing Film from Christopher Nolan

I've heard so much about this film Inception, and I finally saw why. On all levels, visual, intellectual, emotional, it rocks! Great performances by all of the stars including Leonardo Di Caprio. Makes you happy about the film industry and optimistic that successful films can still engage in big ideas. Why can't they make a James Bond film like this?

Perspectives: Odile Decq and Camille Henrot at Espace culturel Louis Vuitton

"For the first time, the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton is concentrating on two artists. Two women, two French citizens, two different and complementary offerings. Odile Decq is an established architect who has just completed the extension and fitting of the MACRO (Rome); Camille Henrot is a 31-year-old visual artist pre-selected for the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2010. "
M. Mikaelof has done amazing work in l'espace culturel LV and this exhibition simply confirms the vision he's brought to the art world, and to the foundation. You can see images and video here on the foundation's website about Perspectives.

Vanessa Bruno at La Galerie des Galeries @ Galerie Lafayette

I liked the interactive element to this exhibition; that you could sit on the bicycle and "ride" through Paris with your own soundtrack. It was a little like "C'etait Un Rendezvous", the movie with the formula one race car driver speeding through the quiet early morning streets of Paris to the Sacre Coeur and his love. The references to contemporary culture in film, books, photography, music and fashion were also spot on, but considering this exhibition gave carte blance to a stylist, Vanessa Bruno, I guess that is what you would expect.

Ugh Oh: Bar 25 Berlin

Pavilion across from the Stattbad Wedding

There are these amazing studios in Wedding in the Stattbad and across the street they've cleaned up a spot and calling it the Pavilion. Soon I imagine, you'll be hearing all about it.

MADE: doing great things in Berlin

I met Luise from made through the architect Alexis Dournier. Luise showed me around the space and introduced me to everyone including the spirit of made, artist Tadirock. I felt so comfortable there. It helped that their artist in residence, Ebon Heath, is from Brooklyn, NY and knows all about Trinidad and Trinidadian artists and culture. And then there was David Button, an ex-New Yorker, working with him. Hats off to Nico too, who shares my name and from what I could see, my taste in music. If I forgot to mention someone, I'm sorry. I suppose we didn't have a chance to meet...but next time, as I will be back.

A Gentile Carioca at Ifa-Galerie Berlin

I love the interactive aspect of art that was presented in this exhibition at Ifa Galerie. You can read more here about it.
