My lovely girlfriend Stefania!
Stefania Fumo now lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but she will always be one of my dearest friends. Love the art that oozes out of her every pore, every strand of hair on her. Here's info about her exhibition in BA. If you are there, and can make it, it promises to be fun! If not, take a tour on the virtual gallery, when you click the link in the title of this post.

Arthur Elgort's Studio
Was fun today to visit the studio of Arthur Elgort. It's just two blocks from my boyfriend's house but you'd never know it was there. An old style, manually operated elevator and a huge white warehouse with pictures plastering the walls from various magazine and ad campaings. He was funny, older than I expected, but a real American photography figure in fashion. I put a link to his site.

Week in Review
Energetically I just was a little out of it this week. I went to a few openings in Chelsea - Richard Tuttle at Pace Wildenstein and Theresa Byrnes - but the real big deal were private meetings which I had with e.g. an artist in residence at Eyebeam, Reid Farrington. I liked what he was doing with peformance, technology and film.
Today I'm going to do a studio visit with Kristin Anderson, Danny Licul's girlfriend. She will do an exhibition with me in Trinidad in May, during their fashion week. I spoke to Jackie Hinkson too, the Trinidadian painter, to ask him to meet me again in April.
Other than those developments, Friday night we had dinner at Ilili, the upscale Lebanese restaurant on 5th Avenue. It was delicious. Drank Arak. The owner, Phillipe, sponsored the dinner for our opening in November at the museum. My Korean American girlfriend Rosalyn is in town and we went out after dinner on Friday, to Apotheke. Saturday had dinner at Indochine with some of Serge's friends after a whole day of doing nothing and just chilling out in the house. So fun to do nothing sometimes!
Next week I'm going to the Winter Music Conference in Miami which I'm quite excited about as I haven't been to it in years.

Friday Minetta Tavern and Beatrice, Saturday Olivier and Sunday Williamsburg
Friday night I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time, Alessandra, and we went to Minetta Tavern; the new restaurant from the Mc Nally brothers who own Pastis, Balthazar, and Schillers. I used to hang out with one of those brothers, would run into him everywhere, can't remember his name, but he said a few years ago he was moving to Asia, and I haven't seen him since. Gwendolyn joined us there for drinks. The bartenders were so great. Francois especially. Lots of celebs and models, old and young. Robert Banat, I guess one of the managers there, invited me to come by a few days before when I saw him having dinner on his day off.
Later met up with the French crew at Beatrice. Fun dancing. Drinking champagne all night long. Saturday Olivier cooked us dinner at his fab pad in the West Village. Such a cool guy. I adore him.
Saturday during the day went to Brooklyn to visit my family and Sunday went to Brooklyn too, Williamsburg, to hang with some old friends, Andrew and Dan. Both are unemployed right now and doing tons of creative things; collage, drawing, photography, music. Best thing to come out of this downtown; real creative expression.

Funny What A Little Quote in the New York Times Will Do
Big article, small quote, but I've been getting texts, emails, facebook messages, calls, all about this. Someone even asked if I think I need a body guard! Anyway, I like being in the good company of art world heavy hitters like Steve Martin and Ed Ruscha.

The Esoteric Agenda
Someone in Trinidad told me about this film. A few spelling errors here and there, but not a lot considering that it is a film that encompasses almost everything.

Carnival Monday and Tuesday
Sundiata
These pics are from Sundiata's studio. The painting that looks different from the others is from Boscoe Holder. Of the two men he's the one on the right. His brother, an artist as well, was visiting him from Barbados. Their house is basically in the forest, so birds of all varieties come there and hang out from time to time.
